Nine-month-old Timothy is recovering well after successful surgery to treat fibrous dysplasia — a rare condition where normal bone is replaced with fibrous tissue, causing deformity and discomfort.
For Timothy, this abnormal growth was beginning to cover his mouth making it hard to feed especially as he needed to move onto solids. Without surgery as he continued to grow, the deformity would only have worsened, risking long-term pain and difficulty with feeding and breathing. Surgery was essential to protect both his health and his development.

The operation was performed by maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Adrian Kamulegeya, who carefully removed the affected bone relieving pressure, restoring structure and giving Timothy the best chance of growing up healthy.

The procedure was delicate due to Timothy’s young age, but the outcome has been excellent, he is healing beautifully and is already more comfortable and active.

Thanks to this operation, Timothy now has the opportunity to grow without the pain and deformity that fibrous dysplasia can cause. Each happy smile is now a reminder of what skilled, safe surgery and timely intervention can achieve.
